Built in 2001, The South Lake Tahoe Castle has been among the most highly rented vacation home rentals in South Lake Tahoe. Thousands of people have stayed here over the years. You will have so much fun enjoying the amenities that you may never even go into town!

*** SPECIAL NOTE: This is an older home with many moving parts and very high occupancy levels. All major amenities in the home work great, however due to the age of the home, high occupancy, the high levels of humidity from the pool, extreme snow, expect intermittent outages of things such as fireplaces, ceiling fans, waterfall. Our maintenance teams are always fixing things in this home, however please understand this home requires constant maintenance due to the many moving parts of the home ***

* Large Loft (Counts as a legal bedroom) - 2 sets of twin over twin bunk beds (Note: Bunk beds, particularly the top bunks may not be suitable for tall or heavy people), Please note: The loft no longer has a couch, it has a futon sleeper which can lay flat to sleep.
In the loft we also have a pool table and foos ball table.
Setting:
The home is in a beautiful mountain setting surrounded by tall trees, on a quiet cul de sac. It is on a private, spacious lot with lots of space between the nearest neighbors.
WINTER PARKING ALERT:
Please look at the photos of the driveway. 4 WHEEL DRIVE vehicles are pretty much mandatory in winter, all 4WD should also carry chains. To enter the driveway, you must navigate through the very narrow driveway entrance, then go up through a curving steep incline. In the winter, there is almost always a layer of snow or ice on the driveway. Most vehicles that get stuck, get stuck in the middle so it is not recommended that you stop in the middle portion of driveway. Either drive to top of driveway, or stay at the bottom of driveway. 2WD cars should not come to this property December 15- April 1. We have shovels, please help yourself if you need help getting into the garage. On top of this difficulty to get up our driveway and garage, it is important to understand that our street is on a cul de sac. It is all uphill to get out, and is among the last streets to get plowed by the county. You may easily get stuck on the street trying to leave if you are not fully prepared with a good 4WD vehicle. During a major storm, it may be next to impossible to leave our street until the snow plows come through our street at least once. Although our maximum allowed parking is 4, it will be very difficult, close to impossible to get more than 3 cars to fit easily on the property in winter. During December 15 to April 1, we are not allowing more than 3 cars on our property due to all the snow that builds up, and the very high snow banks that makes our driveway even more narrow. Our private snow plow service will not plow the driveway unless it is empty. On days of heavy snow, we strongly recommend keep 2 cars in garage, and 0 cars on driveway otherwise you may need to remove driveway snow on your own with our shovels.
It is very illegal to park on the street at all times, especially in the winter due to constant snow plowing. You will receive a very expensive citation and will be towed.

• South Lake Tahoe has highly enforced quiet hours of 10pm-8am. Please do not make any noise outdoors during quiet hours
• Max occupancy is limited during quiet hours.

Maximum Parking: (4 allowed by law, but realistically only 2-3 can easily park in the winter) 3 cars should have 4 wheel drive or chains during winter months. Expect major backups with our snow removal services during heavy snow periods. This is outside our control. Our road may be impassable during heavy snow, and our driveway may go unplowed if cars are on the driveway. 1 in driveway, 2 in garage. Absolutely no street parking is allowed by law.
Guests may not exceed maximum allowed by law for even 5 minutes.
Cleaning fees also include: Maintenance, supplies, restocking costs. This pays for guest consumables (Such as laundry detergent, soaps, shampoos, starter set of paper towels, tp, etc. For longer stays, we ask guests to purchase). Replacement of items such as broken coffee makers, portable heaters, fans, linens, towels and more. Regular trash removal from bear bins to town dump. We ask guests to assist with optional checkout procedures that are very time consuming such as start dishwasher, wash a load or two of towels. While these procedures are optional for guests, they are highly appreciated to help save our cleaners time, particularly for our back to back turnovers which are very difficult in the Vacation Home Rental industry. – Thank You Lux Villa VR

Our cancellation policies are strictly enforced regardless of the reason for cancellation. If you need to reschedule your date, you must be in compliance with cancellation policy first. If there is a blizzard, road closure, fire, smoke, rock slide, avalanche and/or any other natural disasters, our cancellation policy will still be enforced as we cannot expect our property owners to be held accountable for refunds for natural disasters which are expected to occur in the High Sierra Nevada Mountain Range on a constant, regular basis.

Amazing place to spend a time with friends!
Worth every bit
We were with our friends and children for 2 nights. We just fell in love with this house! The house has all the necessary utensils, kitchen appliances. The excellent pool, hammam and sauna were a wonderful addition to our trip. The owner took care of a life jacket for the child in the pool. It was very convenient! There is billiards and table football, which our children liked. Thank you for the cozy and comfortable house! ❤️I hope we will come again?
This place was great, only thing is the driveway was small, we came in a Tacoma and a chevy suburban and had very limited space. We had one car in and one on the driveway. A third car would have been tough.

Everything was good. The amenities were great. The rooms were really hot at night. But there were fans in the closet for use. We enjoyed the place and would rent it again someday the only small issue we found was that there’s a mouse in the kitchen. But not a big deal it just scared the girls.

Hi Jerome. You can adjust the various temperatures of the rooms by cracking a window. We also have AC.
Since South Lake Tahoe is in the High Sierra Mountain range, we are surrounded by very active wildlife of all types. It is very common and normal to have a mouse intrusion in every home in Tahoe once or twice a year. As soon as we learn of an intrusion, we fill the home with traps and other extermination tools. We should be able to get this home exterminated within the next 1-3 days typically. Thank you for alerting us.
Overall it was a great spot for a bachelor party weekend! The sauna and steam room definitely were needed after long nights out. Host was great with communication and follow up!

The castle had everything we needed and actually exceeded all expectations.
The kitchen was completely stocked with utensils, cups, plates, and silverware. The bbq grill had propane which is huge plus if you don’t want to leave the house for food.
Everything was super clean and the jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room all worked. The pool room was clean as well.

This house was very comfortable, close to everything, fun for children, overall a nice stay!
Great place and great amenities! The two saunas, indoor pool and outdoor hot tub were great to have. The kitchen had everything you needed and the property manager was a good communicator. Note that the 4 bunk beds are two bunk beds/4 (small) beds. The queen beds seemed more like full beds, but we were able to fit two adults in each. I’d recommend this place for anyone looking for a fun place to entertain!

Thank You for letting us stay in your home. Our family had a great time. Enough room for everyone. Kids loved the pool. Kitchen was lovely. All the windows with the natural light was awesome. Seen a few wildlife as well most mornings and evenings. Garage code did stop working on the last day but we could open it from the inside. Living room deck was a little scary. Boards had already been replaced and another broken which was reported. We didn't allow the kids on that deck. But over all couldn't ask for a better place to spend time with family that we don't get to see very often. And that's is what mattered the most. This is a beautiful home. It was enjoyed by all 10 of us. Thank you again!!

We celebrated my wife’s 40th birthday at this house. She is from Columbia. We had 8 family members come from Columbia. They had never been in the snow. It was amazing. The house was perfect To accommodate a large group. What I like the most about it they were in the swimming pool room listening to Colombian music dancing having a wonderful time and I was able to be sitting in the living room watching TV. The house is very well separated. Between the pool table the Jacuzzi steam room etc. everybody was blown away with all of the activities. If your large group you cannot go wrong they will have these memories forever.

The place was clean,cool and the spot where the house is located was really good. Some things wasn’t working like steam room but this wasn’t distracting us from vacation.
The house has a lot of fun amenities such as the indoor pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub. As other reviews noted, this house needs maintenance. The bathroom faucet dripped constantly and has a large stain, the cabinet door is broken, and the living room furniture had stains on it. The carpet needs to be replaced. This house needs some TLC but has great amenities.

As many other reviews state, the home definitely needs some upgrades and some things replaced. A lot of things are definitely outdated BUT we didn’t let any of these small inconveniences ruin our trip. The house was awesome! We had a lot of fun with our large group. Definitely does look much more bigger in pictures, but still incredible either way. My only advice for future guests booking: if your a Karen and like to complain about the smallest of things, do not book this home… go somewhere else and pay more if you don’t want anything to bother you. BUT if your a chill person who doesn’t let minor stuff bother you, this place is for you and you cannot beat this price for all the amenities

Such a fantastic vacation house. Looks exactly how it’s shown in the pictures, and is so close to all the fun activities in town. I saw some of the reviews with complaints about the pool waterfall not working and please….. give me a break. This house is perfection and I can’t wait to book it again!

Some of the previous reviews were correct, a lot of things are worn down in the house. The rug is curling, which if you aren't paying attention, you could trip on. The seats at the dining table are completely worn down and you're basically sitting on the ring of wood that the seat cushion is placed on. A lot of the outside porch and patio lights don't work. The oven knob was on the ground when we arrived, so we couldn't get the oven to turn on till we could find the sweet spot of finding out where the knob was in the off position, and then from there getting the oven on, and to the desired temp for our food. But there was a lot of good at this place too, like the pool area and the game room. The living room was a nice size so we could all hang out together.
Just wanted to thank you for letting us stay there. It was very nice. We did find a few small things that didnt effect our stay much but i did want to bring them to your attention. Below is a list of things we found wrong. Like i said the stay was great and we loved the house.
Stand up fan in bedroom doesnt osculate.
Pool table pockets broken. Doesnt hold balls in.
Foosball table has missing handles.
Waterfall for pool doesnt work.
Black side of foosball table has one thats doesnt spin freely.
Pool table has many obstructions (wall, pole, stair rail) would recommend a couple shorter cues.
Trashcan in kitchen foot pedal broken.
Pool table seats very worn (no cushion)
Dining table seats very worn (no cushion)
Living room rug was a tripping hazard (very worn)
Floor of pool very rough.
Bedroom end of hall has lights out.

Very nice property for the entire family. Property management and its repair crew communicate and respond in timely manner before and during our stay. The condition of the house does have rooms for improvement. ( most of them are minor) Since I am only paying half (off season and week days !!!) of what this type of property would normally costs, I am not complaining !! We had a great time and memory of this trip!!

Above-average South Lake Tahoe house with a lovely indoor pool and well heated outdoor hot tub. The Sauna and Steam Room went unused during our stay, but nice to know it was there if we wanted it.
Beds and bedding felt clean and comfortable. There's a handy space heater that kept the great room warm during the chilly spring nights.
